The Community Health Assessment is a survey we do to understand the health needs of people in Marion County. We’ve been doing this for many years. These assessments help us see what problems people are facing and take action to improve services for everyone.

The survey is made up of many questions that are used in other standardized national surveys. Other questions that are more specific to our local community were created by MCPHD Epidemiology staff. A draft of the survey was sent to partner organizations within our Community Health Assessment Steering and Advisory Committees and other local individuals with expertise for review and comment.

We will work with partner agencies and organizations in your neighborhood that understand your needs and are already working in your community.

If your household is selected, you will receive a letter with instructions on how to complete the survey. The survey is easy to do and doesn’t take much time. You can fill it out online, over the phone, or on paper. It’s completely voluntary, and your answers are private. We take your privacy very seriously.

This project is improved by the support of community partners who make up our Community Health Assessment Steering and Advisory Committees who have advised on many parts of this work throughout the planning stages. Partners come from many different types of agencies—hospitals, schools, state and local governmental agencies, and advocacy groups are just a few of the types of partners whose contributions have moved this work forward.

The survey is designed to be easy, usually taking about 20-30 minutes to complete.

Yes, your privacy is very important to us. All answers are confidential and used only to improve community health services.

The results will be used to identify health priorities and create programs that address these issues. We work with local partners to implement these programs and improve health services.

The results will be available on the MCPHD website once everything is completed. To view the 2024 Community Health Assessment Survey Results, please visit the Marion County Public Health Department website marionhealth.org. Within the Programs tab, click on Administration and go under Epidemiology department to view all Community Health Assessment results.
